Alan Hendenreich, Commander - 2014/2015To all Members and Friends of Henry J. Sweeney Post #2

It is with mixed feelings that I embrace the responsibility of assuming the position of leadership of the State of New Hampshire's largest veteran’s organization. I now take the reins of this honored and distinguished Post, due to the tragic and untimely passing of Commander William Whitmore. Bill was the first and only person to be twice elected to lead our Post in the over 90 years of existence and the first to pass away while holding the office. I will stand in the place of honor and sincerely attempt to make him proud. I can never fill his shoes or replace him in any way, but I fully intend to carry on to the best of my ability.

Bill and I had a passion that the not so secret “secrets” to continued success are three things: (1) membership, (2) membership and (3) membership and I intend to make this the priority of my abbreviated term of office. We lost over 50 plus members last year and the numbers are down proportionately on the national level as well.

My plan of attack is plain and simple and I call on every Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion member to sign up one new member and our goal will be overwhelmingly achieved. The formula to making it work lies in one word, "ask". That's the magic word, "ask". No arm twisting, no smoke and mirrors, just "ask".

Try it, it works! If someone shows the slightest interest, tell them about all the local and National benefits we offer. Keep a couple of applications in your car, invite them to visit our smoke free quarters and the rest will take care of itself. Trust me, it works and it's painless.

I look forward to your cooperation and support and welcome your input and suggestions.

In Comradeship,

Alan E. Heidenreich

God Bless all who have served and continue to serve and God continue to bless the Greatest Country in the world!
